Recently, South Korea submitted a revised draft of textile safety and quality marking standards (G/TBT/N/KOR/330) to the WTO Secretariat. To ensure the safety of infants and children, the draft amendment stipulates restrictions on the use of nickel heavy metals in textiles, requires warnings on flammable pajamas, and limits the use of phthalate plasticizers in packaging bags for children's products.

To this end, the inspection and quarantine department reminds manufacturing enterprises and trading companies that first, they must pay attention to avoiding risks during the transition period of the implementation of new regulations. When signing processing contracts with Korean customers, they must clearly stipulate the conformity of product design and the attribution of responsibilities; second, strengthen the safety project review of customer sample designs. Once customer design flaws are discovered, they should communicate and modify the design plan in a timely manner to ensure compliance with the regulations of the importing country; third, enterprises must strengthen the construction of self-inspection and self-control systems, improve laboratory testing capabilities, and ensure that small parts of export products can be effectively tested. In addition, companies exporting textiles to South Korea must regulate the use of nickel heavy metals and phthalate plasticizers, and strictly implement the Shaoxing Inspection and Quarantine Bureau's requirements for safety and quality label standard testing of textiles exported to South Korea to avoid economic losses.
